WHAT IS Arca Luminosa?
Arca Luminosa was born in 2017 with the purpose of helping street dogs that everyday are in risk of being run over by cars, especially at night. To resolve this problem, the idea of the "Life Collars" was born; reflective collars that allow animals to be visible in the dark. Additionally, during volunteering activities; The problem of canine and feline overpopulation was evident in specific points of the city and animals in extreme vulnerability. To contribute to the solution of this, Arca Luminosa began a rescue program with the help of our network of foster homes and also we created project Valkyria to sterilize street animals.
The mission of Arca Luminosa is to change the reality of thousands of stray animals in Colombia, this by placing reflective collars to prevent accidents, rescue and rehabilitation of animals in extreme vulnerability, sterilization and postoperative care of street fauna, among other activities.

We place reflective collars to street dogs so that they are visible at night. Each collar is marked with the phrase "I am not lost, I am looking for a home" to promote the adoption.
We have completed more than 40 volunteering activities in Bogotá for the placement of collars and in total we have placed more than 2,500 collars and feed more than 3,000 street dogs during these activities.

We carry out sterilization activities for street animals, including postoperative care.
We’ve completed 6 activates in Bogotá, Colombia.
Each sterilization activity has 24 hours postoperative for animals without a caregiver, in total 716 procedures have been performed including dogs and cats.
We rescue and rehabilitate animals in vulnerable situations; dogs that were run over, females in pregnancy, animals used in fights, etc. We have a network of foster homes, volunteer families that open a space in their homes to rescue and rehabilitate a dog until it completes its adoption process.
